Versions 1.2.30 and prior are vulnerable to Path Traversal through the Report format_file Parameter, causing arbitrary file read. This vulnerability occurs in two stages. In the first stage (stored injection), lib/html_reports.php at line 283 stores $save['format_file'] = $post['format_file'] directly into the database without any validation. In the second stage (file read), lib/reports.php at line 667 concatenates CACTI_PATH_FORMATS . '/' . $format_file, and line 670 then calls file($format_file), reading arbitrary files from the filesystem. This issue has been fixed in version 1.2.31.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/commit/4c09efaebf3a9faec66969d0b5c4aceaf397f37f","https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/security/advisories/GHSA-mjvw-mhj5-9jcj","https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/security/advisories/GHSA-mjvw-mhj5-9jcj"],"products":["cacti:cacti"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-40084","score":0.00486,"percentile":0.41878,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
