{"cve":"CVE-2026-39983","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-09T18:17:02.503","modified":"2026-10-26T22:10:00.163","status":"Modified","description":"basic-ftp is an FTP client for Node.js. Prior to 5.2.1, basic-ftp allows FTP command injection via CRLF sequences (\\r\\n) in file path parameters passed to high-level path APIs such as cd(), remove(), rename(), uploadFrom(), downloadTo(), list(), and removeDir(). The library's protectWhitespace() helper only handles leading spaces and returns other paths unchanged, while FtpContext.send() writes the resulting command string directly to the control socket with \\r\\n appended. This lets attacker-controlled path strings split one intended FTP command into multiple commands. This vulnerability is fixed in 5.2.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:L","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-93"],"references":["https://github.com/patrickjuchli/basic-ftp/commit/2ecc8e2c500c5234115f06fd1dbde1aa03d70f4b","https://github.com/patrickjuchli/basic-ftp/releases/tag/v5.2.1","https://github.com/patrickjuchli/basic-ftp/security/advisories/GHSA-chqc-8p9q-pq6q","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:13826","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:9742"],"products":["patrickjuchli:basic-ftp"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T22:26:44.656832877+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-39983","score":0.02185,"percentile":0.82269,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-chqc-8p9q-pq6q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-chqc-8p9q-pq6q","summary":"basic-ftp has FTP Command Injection via CRLF","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:43.950067890Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"basic-ftp","purl":"pkg:npm/basic-ftp","ranges":[">=5.2.0 <5.2.1"],"fixed":["5.2.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
