From 2.5.0 to before 2.8.1, the RSGI static handler for Emmett's internal assets (/__emmett__ paths) is vulnerable to path traversal attacks. An attacker can use ../ sequences (eg /__emmett__/../rsgi/handlers.py) to read arbitrary files outside the assets directory. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.8.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/emmett-framework/emmett/security/advisories/GHSA-pr46-2v3c-5356"],"products":["emmett:emmett"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-39847","score":0.00495,"percentile":0.42493,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pr46-2v3c-5356","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pr46-2v3c-5356","summary":"Emmett has a path traversal in internal assets handler","modified":"2026-06-06T00:30:08.754262586Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"emmett","purl":"pkg:pypi/emmett","ranges":[">=2.5.0 <2.8.1"],"fixed":["2.8.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-59","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-59","summary":"","modified":"2026-05-20T09:18:59.901003Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"emmett","purl":"pkg:pypi/emmett","ranges":[">=2.5.0 <2.8.1"],"fixed":["2.8.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
