Prior to 1.4.14, the LightRAG API is vulnerable to a JWT algorithm confusion attack where an attacker can forge tokens by specifying 'alg': 'none' in the JWT header. Since the jwt.decode() call does not explicitly deny the 'none' algorithm, a crafted token without a signature will be accepted as valid, leading to unauthorized access. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.14.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/HKUDS/LightRAG/security/advisories/GHSA-8ffj-4hx4-9pgf","https://github.com/github/advisory-database/issues/7373"],"products":["hkuds:lightrag"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-39413","score":0.00174,"percentile":0.06838,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8ffj-4hx4-9pgf","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8ffj-4hx4-9pgf","summary":"lightrag-hku: JWT Algorithm Confusion Vulnerability ","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:36.700729517Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"lightrag-hku","purl":"pkg:pypi/lightrag-hku","ranges":["<1.4.14"],"fixed":["1.4.14"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2592","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2592","summary":"lightrag-hku: JWT Algorithm Confusion Vulnerability ","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:03.185967123Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"lightrag-hku","purl":"pkg:pypi/lightrag-hku","ranges":["<1.4.14"],"fixed":["1.4.14"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
