From 6.0.0 to before 6.4.2, 7.3.2, and 8.0.5, the dev server’s handling of .map requests for optimized dependencies resolves file paths and calls readFile without restricting ../ segments in the URL. As a result, it is possible to bypass the server.fs.strict allow list and retrieve .map files located outside the project root, provided they can be parsed as valid source map JSON. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.4.2, 7.3.2, and 8.0.5.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/vitejs/vite/security/advisories/GHSA-4w7w-66w2-5vf9"],"products":["vitejs:vite","voidzero:vite\\+"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-39365","score":0.00914,"percentile":0.60123,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4w7w-66w2-5vf9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4w7w-66w2-5vf9","summary":"Vite Vulnerable to Path Traversal in Optimized Deps `.map` Handling","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:42.779400319Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=8.0.0 <8.0.5"],"fixed":["8.0.5"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=7.0.0 <7.3.2"],"fixed":["7.3.2"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":["<6.4.2"],"fixed":["6.4.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
