{"cve":"CVE-2026-39363","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-07T20:16:30.000","modified":"2026-08-25T13:18:45.007","status":"Modified","description":"Vite is a frontend tooling framework for JavaScript. From 6.0.0 to before 6.4.2, 7.3.2, and 8.0.5, if it is possible to connect to the Vite dev server’s WebSocket without an Origin header, an attacker can invoke fetchModule via the custom WebSocket event vite:invoke and combine file://... with ?raw (or ?inline) to retrieve the contents of arbitrary files on the server as a JavaScript string (e.g., export default \"...\"). The access control enforced in the HTTP request path (such as server.fs.allow) is not applied to this WebSocket-based execution path. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.4.2, 7.3.2, and 8.0.5.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-200","CWE-306","CWE-1220"],"references":["https://github.com/vitejs/vite/security/advisories/GHSA-p9ff-h696-f583","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:24761","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:24762","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:24866","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:59153"],"products":["vitejs:vite","voidzero:vite\\+"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-39363","score":0.03396,"percentile":0.8883,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p9ff-h696-f583","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p9ff-h696-f583","summary":"Vite Vulnerable to Arbitrary File Read via Vite Dev Server WebSocket","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:02.521776335Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=8.0.0 <8.0.5"],"fixed":["8.0.5"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=7.0.0 <7.3.2"],"fixed":["7.3.2"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=6.0.0 <6.4.2"],"fixed":["6.4.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
