Prior to 0.17.1, libp2p-rendezvous server has no limit on how many namespaces a single peer can register. A malicious peer can just keep registering unique namespaces in a loop and the server happily accepts every single one allocating memory for each registration with no pushback. Keep doing this long enough (or with multiple sybil peers) and the server process gets OOM killed. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.17.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/libp2p/rust-libp2p/security/advisories/GHSA-cqfx-gf56-8x59","https://github.com/libp2p/rust-libp2p/security/advisories/GHSA-cqfx-gf56-8x59"],"products":["protocol:libp2p"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-35405","score":0.00395,"percentile":0.33743,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cqfx-gf56-8x59","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cqfx-gf56-8x59","summary":"libp2p-rendezvous: Unlimited namespace registrations per peer enables OOM DoS on rendezvous servers","modified":"2026-06-09T10:45:13.923189467Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"libp2p-rendezvous","purl":"pkg:cargo/libp2p-rendezvous","ranges":["<0.17.1"],"fixed":["0.17.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
