{"cve":"CVE-2026-35341","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-22T17:16:36.060","modified":"2026-10-26T22:10:00.163","status":"Analyzed","description":"A vulnerability in uutils coreutils mkfifo allows for the unauthorized modification of permissions on existing files. When mkfifo fails to create a FIFO because a file already exists at the target path, it fails to terminate the operation for that path and continues to execute a follow-up set_permissions call. This results in the existing file's permissions being changed to the default mode (often 644 after umask), potentially exposing sensitive files such as SSH private keys to other users on the system.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-732"],"references":["https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/issues/10020"],"products":["uutils:coreutils"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T22:26:44.656832877+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-35341","score":0.00165,"percentile":0.05702,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pmf6-rcx4-v53v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pmf6-rcx4-v53v","summary":"mkfifo: permissions of an existing file are changed after FIFO creation fails","modified":"2026-07-06T22:11:26.860551Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"uu_mkfifo","purl":"pkg:cargo/uu_mkfifo","ranges":["<0.6.0"],"fixed":["0.6.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
