Prior to 1.4.38, the cloud deployment path in src/bentoml/_internal/cloud/deployment.py was not included in the fix for CVE-2026-33744. Line 1648 interpolates system_packages directly into a shell command using an f-string without any quoting. The generated script is uploaded to BentoCloud as setup.sh and executed on the cloud build infrastructure during deployment, making this a remote code execution on the CI/CD tier. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.38.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/bentoml/BentoML/security/advisories/GHSA-fgv4-6jr3-jgfw","https://github.com/bentoml/BentoML/security/advisories/GHSA-fgv4-6jr3-jgfw"],"products":["bentoml:bentoml"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:27.712498749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-35043","score":0.00315,"percentile":0.2421,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fgv4-6jr3-jgfw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fgv4-6jr3-jgfw","summary":"BentoML: Command Injection in cloud deployment setup script","modified":"2026-06-08T20:15:16.622817203Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"bentoml","purl":"pkg:pypi/bentoml","ranges":["<1.4.38"],"fixed":["1.4.38"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-158","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-158","summary":"","modified":"2026-05-20T12:35:10.914984Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"bentoml","purl":"pkg:pypi/bentoml","ranges":["<1.4.38"],"fixed":["1.4.38"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
