Prior to version 1.5.90, run_python() in praisonai constructs a shell command string by interpolating user-controlled code into python3 -c \"<code>\" and passing it to subprocess.run(..., shell=True). The escaping logic only handles \\ and \", leaving $() and backtick substitutions unescaped, allowing arbitrary OS command execution before Python is invoked. This issue has been patched in version 1.5.90.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/MervinPraison/PraisonAI/security/advisories/GHSA-w37c-qqfp-c67f","https://github.com/MervinPraison/PraisonAI/security/advisories/GHSA-w37c-qqfp-c67f"],"products":["praison:praisonaiagents"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34937","score":0.00567,"percentile":0.47031,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w37c-qqfp-c67f","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w37c-qqfp-c67f","summary":"PraisonAI: Shell Injection in run_python() via Unescaped $() Substitution","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:00.297721595Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"praisonaiagents","purl":"pkg:pypi/praisonaiagents","ranges":["<1.5.90"],"fixed":["1.5.90"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2954","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2954","summary":"PraisonAI: Shell Injection in run_python() via Unescaped $() Substitution","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:07.151342904Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"praisonaiagents","purl":"pkg:pypi/praisonaiagents","ranges":["<1.5.90"],"fixed":["1.5.90"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
