Prior to versions 38.8.6, 39.8.0, 40.7.0, and 41.0.0-beta.8, apps that allow downloads and programmatically destroy sessions may be vulnerable to a use-after-free. If a session is torn down while a native save-file dialog is open for a download, dismissing the dialog dereferences freed memory, which may lead to a crash or memory corruption. Apps that do not destroy sessions at runtime, or that do not permit downloads, are not affected. This issue has been patched in versions 38.8.6, 39.8.0, 40.7.0, and 41.0.0-beta.8.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-9w97-2464-8783"],"products":["electronjs:electron"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34772","score":0.00212,"percentile":0.11527,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9w97-2464-8783","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9w97-2464-8783","summary":"Electron: Use-after-free in download save dialog callback","modified":"2026-04-06T23:19:57.917173Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":["<38.8.6"],"fixed":["38.8.6"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=39.0.0-alpha.1 <39.8.0"],"fixed":["39.8.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=40.0.0-alpha.1 <40.7.0"],"fixed":["40.7.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=41.0.0-alpha.1 <41.0.0-beta.7"],"fixed":["41.0.0-beta.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
