From version 0.79.0 to before version 0.81.0, the local filesystem memory tool in the Anthropic TypeScript SDK validated model-supplied paths using a string prefix check that did not append a trailing path separator. A model steered by prompt injection could supply a crafted path that resolved to a sibling directory sharing the memory root's name as a prefix, allowing reads and writes outside the sandboxed memory directory. This issue has been patched in version 0.81.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-41"],"references":["https://github.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-typescript/commit/0ac69b3438ee9c96b21a7d3c39c07b7cdb6995d9","https://github.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-typescript/releases/tag/sdk-v0.81.0","https://github.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-typescript/security/advisories/GHSA-5474-4w2j-mq4c"],"products":["anthropic:claude_sdk_for_typescript"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34451","score":0.00362,"percentile":0.30104,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5474-4w2j-mq4c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5474-4w2j-mq4c","summary":"Claude SDK for TypeScript: Memory Tool Path Validation Allows Sandbox Escape to Sibling Directories","modified":"2026-05-05T16:01:30.184364Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@anthropic-ai/sdk","purl":"pkg:npm/%40anthropic-ai/sdk","ranges":[">=0.79.0 <0.81.0"],"fixed":["0.81.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
