From versions 2.0.0-alpha to before 2.3.9 and 3.0.0-alpha to before 3.1.1, there is a conditional local privilege escalation vulnerability in an edge-case naming collision. Only authenticated himmelblau users whose mapped CN/short name exactly matches a privileged local group name (e.g., \"sudo\", \"wheel\", \"docker\", \"adm\") can cause the NSS module to resolve that group name to their fake primary group. If the system uses NSS results for group-based authorization decisions (sudo, polkit, etc.), this can grant the attacker the privileges of that group. This issue has been patched in versions 2.3.9 and 3.1.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.0},"cwes":["CWE-269"],"references":["https://github.com/himmelblau-idm/himmelblau/releases/tag/2.3.9","https://github.com/himmelblau-idm/himmelblau/releases/tag/3.1.1","https://github.com/himmelblau-idm/himmelblau/security/advisories/GHSA-v7xx-7mqc-g835"],"products":["himmelblau-idm:himmelblau"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34397","score":0.00164,"percentile":0.05568,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
