Prior to zebrad version 4.3.0 and zebra-chain version 6.0.1, a vulnerability in Zebra's transaction processing logic allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Zebra node to panic (crash). This is triggered by sending a specially crafted V5 transaction that passes initial deserialization but fails during transaction ID calculation. This issue has been patched in zebrad version 4.3.0 and zebra-chain version 6.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:H","score":9.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-502","CWE-94","CWE-1336"],"references":["https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/zebra/releases/tag/v4.3.0","https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/zebra/security/advisories/GHSA-qp6f-w4r3-h8wg","https://zfnd.org/zebra-4-3-0-critical-security-fixes-zip-235-support-and-performance-improvements"],"products":["zfnd:zebra","zfnd:zebra-chain"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34202","score":0.00792,"percentile":0.5633,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qp6f-w4r3-h8wg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qp6f-w4r3-h8wg","summary":"Zebra node crash — V5 transaction hash panic (P2P reachable)","modified":"2026-03-31T19:03:53.899239Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"zebrad","purl":"pkg:cargo/zebrad","ranges":["<4.3.0"],"fixed":["4.3.0"]},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"zebra-chain","purl":"pkg:cargo/zebra-chain","ranges":["<6.0.1"],"fixed":["6.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
