{"cve":"CVE-2026-34069","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-14T00:16:07.023","modified":"2026-10-26T21:10:00.170","status":"Analyzed","description":"nimiq/core-rs-albatross is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. In versions 1.2.2 and below, an unauthenticated p2p peer can cause the RequestMacroChain message handler task to panic. Sending a RequestMacroChain message where the first locator hash on the victim’s main chain is a micro block hash (not a macro block hash) causes said panic. The RequestMacroChain::handle handler selects the locator based only on \"is on main chain\", then calls get_macro_blocks() and panics via .unwrap() when the selected hash is not a macro block (BlockchainError::BlockIsNotMacro). This issue has been fixed in version 1.3.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-617"],"references":["https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/commit/ae6c1e92342e72f80fd12accbe66ee80dd6802ac","https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/pull/3660","https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/releases/tag/v1.3.0","https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/security/advisories/GHSA-48m6-486p-9j8p"],"products":["nimiq:nimiq_proof-of-stake"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T21:38:48.864438205+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34069","score":0.00297,"percentile":0.22121,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-48m6-486p-9j8p","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-48m6-486p-9j8p","summary":"nimiq-consensus panics via RequestMacroChain micro-block locator","modified":"2026-04-15T21:04:55.230558Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"nimiq-consensus","purl":"pkg:cargo/nimiq-consensus","ranges":["<=1.2.2"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
