Prior to version 7.0.5, there is a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability caused by CPU exhaustion. When serializing a specially crafted \"array-like\" object (an object that inherits from Array.prototype but has a very large length property), the process enters an intensive loop that consumes 100% CPU and hangs indefinitely. This issue has been patched in version 7.0.5.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-834"],"references":["https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/commit/f147e90269b58bb6e539cfdf3d0e20d6ad14204b","https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/releases/tag/v7.0.5","https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/security/advisories/GHSA-qj8w-gfj5-8c6v"],"products":["yahoo:serialize"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34043","score":0.00491,"percentile":0.42208,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qj8w-gfj5-8c6v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qj8w-gfj5-8c6v","summary":"Serialize JavaScript has CPU Exhaustion Denial of Service via crafted array-like objects","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:40.557735802Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"serialize-javascript","purl":"pkg:npm/serialize-javascript","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <7.0.5"],"fixed":["7.0.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
