Prior to version 0.2.86, act's built in actions/cache server listens to connections on all interfaces and allows anyone who can connect to it including someone anywhere on the internet to create caches with arbitrary keys and retrieve all existing caches. If they can predict which cache keys will be used by local actions, they can create malicious caches containing whatever files they please most likely allowing arbitrary remote code execution within the docker container. This issue has been patched in version 0.2.86.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":8.2},"cwes":["CWE-862"],"references":["https://code.forgejo.org/forgejo/runner/issues/294","https://github.com/nektos/act/commit/c28c27e141e8b54f9853de82f421ee09846751f7","https://github.com/nektos/act/releases/tag/v0.2.86","https://github.com/nektos/act/security/advisories/GHSA-x34h-54cw-9825"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-34042","score":0.00467,"percentile":0.40475,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x34h-54cw-9825","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x34h-54cw-9825","summary":"act: actions/cache server allows malicious cache injection","modified":"2026-04-02T21:26:09.803073852Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/nektos/act","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/nektos/act","ranges":["<0.2.86"],"fixed":["0.2.86"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4890","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4890","summary":"act: actions/cache server allows malicious cache injection in github.com/nektos/act","modified":"2026-04-02T21:20:05.213474Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/nektos/act","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/nektos/act","ranges":["<0.2.86"],"fixed":["0.2.86"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
