{"cve":"CVE-2026-33646","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-26T18:16:58.420","modified":"2026-10-25T17:10:00.197","status":"Deferred","description":"mise manages dev tools like node, python, cmake, and terraform. Prior to 2026.3.10, mise processes .tool-versions files through the Tera template engine during parsing, with the exec() function registered, enabling arbitrary command execution. Unlike .mise.toml files, .tool-versions files are not subject to trust verification in non-paranoid mode. This means an attacker can place a malicious .tool-versions file in a git repository, and when a victim with mise activated cds into the directory, arbitrary commands execute without any trust prompt. This vulnerability is fixed in 2026.3.10.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.6},"cwes":["CWE-94"],"references":["https://github.com/jdx/mise/security/advisories/GHSA-fjj5-v948-whjj","https://github.com/jdx/mise/security/advisories/GHSA-fjj5-v948-whjj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33646","score":0.00685,"percentile":0.5231,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fjj5-v948-whjj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fjj5-v948-whjj","summary":"Mise Vulnerable to Arbitrary Code Execution via Tera Templates in .tool-versions Files (Trust Bypass)","modified":"2026-07-21T15:15:49.936731548Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"mise","purl":"pkg:cargo/mise","ranges":["<2026.3.10"],"fixed":["2026.3.10"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
