Prior to versions 8.6.57 and 9.6.0-alpha.48, an authenticated user can overwrite server-generated session fields such as expiresAt and createdWith when updating their own session via the REST API. This allows bypassing the server's configured session lifetime policy, making a session effectively permanent. This issue has been patched in versions 8.6.57 and 9.6.0-alpha.48.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/commit/26b628c8fb3cc79ea955374769eebcff6f8a8a73","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/commit/ea68fc0b22a6056c9675149469ff57817f7cf984","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/pull/10263","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/pull/10264","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-jc39-686j-wp6q"],"products":["parseplatform:parse-server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33527","score":0.00265,"percentile":0.18483,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jc39-686j-wp6q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jc39-686j-wp6q","summary":"Parse Server's Session Update endpoint allows overwriting server-generated session fields","modified":"2026-03-30T14:06:19.232139Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":[">=9.0.0 <9.6.0-alpha.48"],"fixed":["9.6.0-alpha.48"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":["<8.6.57"],"fixed":["8.6.57"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
