Versions prior to 26.2.0 are vulnerable to an authorization bypass via HTTP path traversal. An attacker can craft a URL containing path traversal sequences (e.g. `/public/../admin/secrets`) that resolves to a protected path after normalization, but is matched against a permissive rule because the raw, un-normalized path is used during rule evaluation. Version 26.2.0 contains a patch.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":10.0},"cwes":["CWE-23"],"references":["https://github.com/ory/oathkeeper/commit/8e0002140491c592db41fa141dc6ad68f417e2b2","https://github.com/ory/oathkeeper/security/advisories/GHSA-p224-6x5r-fjpm"],"products":["ory:oathkeeper"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33494","score":0.00528,"percentile":0.44717,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p224-6x5r-fjpm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p224-6x5r-fjpm","summary":"Ory Oathkeeper has a path traversal authorization bypass","modified":"2026-03-27T21:20:18.952645Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/ory/oathkeeper","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/ory/oathkeeper","ranges":["<0.40.10-0.20260320084758-8e0002140491"],"fixed":["0.40.10-0.20260320084758-8e0002140491"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4804","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4804","summary":"Ory Oathkeeper has a path traversal authorization bypass in github.com/ory/oathkeeper","modified":"2026-03-23T18:45:23.126768Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/ory/oathkeeper","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/ory/oathkeeper","ranges":["<0.40.10-0.20260320084758-8e0002140491"],"fixed":["0.40.10-0.20260320084758-8e0002140491"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
