In versions prior to 5.17, the project backup didn't filter Git and Mercurial configuration files which could lead to remote code execution under certain circumstances. This issue has been fixed in version 5.17. If developers are unable to update immediately, they can limit the scope of the vulnerability by restricting access to the project backup, as it is only accessible to users who can create projects.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.0},"cwes":["CWE-23","CWE-94","CWE-434"],"references":["https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate/pull/18549","https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate/security/advisories/GHSA-558g-h753-6m33"],"products":["weblate:weblate"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T22:26:44.656832877+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33435","score":0.00708,"percentile":0.53211,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-558g-h753-6m33","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-558g-h753-6m33","summary":"Weblate: Remote code execution during backup restoration","modified":"2026-06-08T20:00:12.836222040Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"weblate","purl":"pkg:pypi/weblate","ranges":["<5.17"],"fixed":["5.17"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-154","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-154","summary":"","modified":"2026-05-20T09:19:23.960405Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"weblate","purl":"pkg:pypi/weblate","ranges":["<5.17"],"fixed":["5.17"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
