{"cve":"CVE-2026-33287","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-26T01:16:27.530","modified":"2026-06-17T10:37:15.307","status":"Analyzed","description":"LiquidJS is a Shopify / GitHub Pages compatible template engine in pure JavaScript. Prior to version 10.25.1, the `replace_first` filter in LiquidJS uses JavaScript's `String.prototype.replace()` which interprets `$&` as a back reference to the matched substring. The filter only charges `memoryLimit` for the input string length, not the amplified output. An attacker can achieve exponential memory amplification (up to 625,000:1) while staying within the `memoryLimit` budget, leading to denial of service. Version 10.25.1 patches the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-400"],"references":["https://github.com/harttle/liquidjs/commit/35d523026345d80458df24c72e653db78b5d061d","https://github.com/harttle/liquidjs/security/advisories/GHSA-6q5m-63h6-5x4v","https://github.com/harttle/liquidjs/security/advisories/GHSA-6q5m-63h6-5x4v"],"products":["liquidjs:liquidjs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33287","score":0.00479,"percentile":0.41379,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-6q5m-63h6-5x4v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-6q5m-63h6-5x4v","summary":"LiquidJS has Exponential Memory Amplification through its replace_first Filter $& Pattern","modified":"2026-10-29T17:44:46.521139306Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"liquidjs","purl":"pkg:npm/liquidjs","ranges":["<10.25.1"],"fixed":["10.25.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
