Prior to versions 3.3.5, 3.4.4, and 4.2.6, a specially crafted Socket.IO packet can make the server wait for a large number of binary attachments and buffer them, which can be exploited to make the server run out of memory. This issue has been patched in versions 3.3.5, 3.4.4, and 4.2.6.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-754"],"references":["https://github.com/socketio/socket.io/commit/719f9ebab0772ffb882bd614b387e585c1aa75d4","https://github.com/socketio/socket.io/commit/9d39f1f080510f036782f2177fac701cc041faaf","https://github.com/socketio/socket.io/commit/b25738c416c4e32fbff62ee182afa8f6d0dacf78","https://github.com/socketio/socket.io/security/advisories/GHSA-677m-j7p3-52f9"],"products":["socket:socket.io-parser"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33151","score":0.00523,"percentile":0.44392,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-677m-j7p3-52f9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-677m-j7p3-52f9","summary":"socket.io allows an unbounded number of binary attachments","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:37.788695682Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"socket.io-parser","purl":"pkg:npm/socket.io-parser","ranges":["<3.3.5"],"fixed":["3.3.5"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"socket.io-parser","purl":"pkg:npm/socket.io-parser","ranges":[">=3.4.0 <3.4.4"],"fixed":["3.4.4"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"socket.io-parser","purl":"pkg:npm/socket.io-parser","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <4.2.6"],"fixed":["4.2.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
