{"cve":"CVE-2026-33062","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T03:16:01.097","modified":"2026-06-17T10:36:53.103","status":"Analyzed","description":"free5GC is an open source 5G core network. free5GC NRF prior to version 1.4.2 has an Improper Input Validation vulnerability leading to Denial of Service. All deployments of free5GC using the NRF discovery service are affected. The `EncodeGroupId` function attempts to access array indices [0], [1], [2] without validating the length of the split data. When the parameter contains insufficient separator characters, the code panics with \"index out of range\". A remote attacker can cause the NRF service to panic and crash by sending a crafted HTTP GET request with a malformed `group-id-list` parameter. This results in complete denial of service for the NRF discovery service. free5GC NRF version 1.4.2 fixes the issue. There is no direct workaround at the application level. The recommendation is to apply the provided patch or restrict access to the NRF API to trusted sources only.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-284"],"references":["https://github.com/free5gc/free5gc/issues/777","https://github.com/free5gc/free5gc/security/advisories/GHSA-7c47-xr7q-p6hg","https://github.com/free5gc/nrf/commit/dac77d8f8f2e0f041c5634fb3c685dcb9734b872","https://github.com/free5gc/nrf/pull/80"],"products":["free5gc:free5gc"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33062","score":0.00692,"percentile":0.52888,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7c47-xr7q-p6hg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7c47-xr7q-p6hg","summary":"free5GC NRF Discovery EncodeGroupId Function Panics on Malformed group-id-list Parameter","modified":"2026-03-23T18:56:04.158991Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/free5gc/nrf","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/free5gc/nrf","ranges":["<1.4.2"],"fixed":["1.4.2"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4756","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4756","summary":"free5GC NRF Discovery EncodeGroupId Function Panics on Malformed group-id-list Parameter in github.com/free5gc/nrf","modified":"2026-03-23T18:45:17.958348Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/free5gc/nrf","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/free5gc/nrf","ranges":["<1.4.2"],"fixed":["1.4.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
