{"cve":"CVE-2026-33022","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T08:16:11.293","modified":"2026-06-17T10:36:47.793","status":"Analyzed","description":"Tekton Pipelines project provides k8s-style resources for declaring CI/CD-style pipelines. Versions 0.60.0 through 1.0.0, 1.1.0 through 1.3.2, 1.4.0 through 1.6.0, 1.7.0 through 1.9.0, 1.10.0, and 1.10.1 have a denial-of-service vulnerability in that allows any user who can create a TaskRun or PipelineRun to crash the controller cluster-wide by setting .spec.taskRef.resolver (or .spec.pipelineRef.resolver) to a string of 31+ characters. The crash occurs because GenerateDeterministicNameFromSpec produces a name exceeding the 63-character DNS-1123 label limit, and its truncation logic panics on a [-1] slice bound since the generated name contains no spaces. Once crashed, the controller enters a CrashLoopBackOff on restart (as it re-reconciles the offending resource), blocking all CI/CD reconciliation until the resource is manually deleted. Built-in resolvers (git, cluster, bundles, hub) are unaffected due to their short names, but any custom resolver name triggers the bug. The fix truncates the resolver-name prefix instead of the full string, preserving the hash suffix for determinism and uniqueness. This issue has been patched in versions 1.0.1, 1.3.3, 1.6.1, 1.9.2 and 1.10.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-129"],"references":["https://github.com/tektoncd/pipeline/commit/5eead3f859b9f938e86039e4d29185092c1d4ee6","https://github.com/tektoncd/pipeline/security/advisories/GHSA-cv4x-93xx-wgfj"],"products":["linuxfoundation:tekton_pipelines"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-33022","score":0.00375,"percentile":0.31476,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cv4x-93xx-wgfj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cv4x-93xx-wgfj","summary":"Tekton Pipelines controller panic via long resolver name in TaskRun/PipelineRun","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:38.709503818Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=0.60.0 <1.0.1"],"fixed":["1.0.1"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=1.1.0 <1.3.3"],"fixed":["1.3.3"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=1.4.0 <1.6.1"],"fixed":["1.6.1"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=1.7.0 <1.9.2"],"fixed":["1.9.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=1.10.0 <1.10.2"],"fixed":["1.10.2"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4730","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4730","summary":"Tekton Pipelines controller panic via long resolver name in TaskRun/PipelineRun in github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","modified":"2026-07-23T19:15:15.711765333Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/tektoncd/pipeline","ranges":[">=0.60.0 <1.0.1",">=1.1.0 <1.3.3",">=1.4.0 <1.6.1",">=1.7.0 <1.9.2",">=1.10.0 <1.10.2"],"fixed":["1.0.1","1.3.3","1.6.1","1.9.2","1.10.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
