{"cve":"CVE-2026-32941","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T04:16:49.560","modified":"2026-06-17T10:36:36.257","status":"Analyzed","description":"Sliver is a command and control framework that uses a custom Wireguard netstack. Versions 1.7.3 and below contain a Remote OOM (Out-of-Memory) vulnerability in the Sliver C2 server's mTLS and WireGuard C2 transport layer. The socketReadEnvelope and socketWGReadEnvelope functions trust an attacker-controlled 4-byte length prefix to allocate memory, with ServerMaxMessageSize allowing single allocations of up to ~2 GiB. A compromised implant or an attacker with valid credentials can exploit this by sending fabricated length prefixes over concurrent yamux streams (up to 128 per connection), forcing the server to attempt allocating ~256 GiB of memory and triggering an OS OOM kill. This crashes the Sliver server, disrupts all active implant sessions, and may degrade or kill other processes sharing the same host. The same pattern also affects all implant-side readers, which have no upper-bound check at all. The issue was not fixed at the the time of publication.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":5.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-770","CWE-789"],"references":["https://github.com/BishopFox/sliver/security/advisories/GHSA-97vp-pwqj-46qc"],"products":["bishopfox:sliver"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32941","score":0.0031,"percentile":0.23882,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-97vp-pwqj-46qc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-97vp-pwqj-46qc","summary":"Sliver Vulnerable to Authenticated OOM via Memory Exhaustion in mTLS/WireGuard Transports","modified":"2026-03-30T14:04:02Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/bishopfox/sliver","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/bishopfox/sliver","ranges":["<=1.7.3"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4723","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4723","summary":"Sliver Vulnerable to Authenticated OOM via Memory Exhaustion in mTLS/WireGuard Transports in github.com/bishopfox/sliver","modified":"2026-03-26T21:03:18.903001Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/bishopfox/sliver","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/bishopfox/sliver","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
