{"cve":"CVE-2026-32761","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T00:16:17.617","modified":"2026-06-17T10:36:20.483","status":"Analyzed","description":"File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. Versions 2.61.0 and below contain a permission enforcement bypass which allows users who are denied download privileges (perm.download = false) but granted share privileges (perm.share = true) to exfiltrate file content by creating public share links. While the direct raw download endpoint (/api/raw/) correctly enforces the download permission, the share creation endpoint only checks Perm.Share, and the public download handler (/api/public/dl/<hash>) serves file content without verifying that the original file owner has download permission. This means any authenticated user with share access can circumvent download restrictions by sharing a file and then retrieving it via the unauthenticated public download URL. The vulnerability undermines data-loss prevention and role-separation policies, as restricted users can publicly distribute files they are explicitly blocked from downloading directly. This issue has been fixed in version 2.62.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-284","CWE-639","CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/commit/09a26166b4f79446e7174c017380f6db45444e32","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/releases/tag/v2.62.0","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/security/advisories/GHSA-68j5-4m99-w9w9"],"products":["filebrowser:filebrowser"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32761","score":0.00431,"percentile":0.37426,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-68j5-4m99-w9w9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-68j5-4m99-w9w9","summary":"File Browser has an Authorization Policy Bypass in Public Share Download Flow","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:59.772819457Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","purl":"pkg:golang/https:/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","ranges":["<=2.61.0"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4738","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4738","summary":"File Browser has an Authorization Policy Bypass in Public Share Download Flow in github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","modified":"2026-04-07T15:15:14.304786Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","ranges":["<2.62.0"],"fixed":["2.62.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
