{"cve":"CVE-2026-32760","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T00:16:17.440","modified":"2026-06-17T10:36:20.370","status":"Analyzed","description":"File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. In versions 2.61.2 and below, any unauthenticated visitor can register a full administrator account when self-registration (signup = true) is enabled and the default user permissions have perm.admin = true. The signup handler blindly applies all default settings (including Perm.Admin) to the new user without any server-side guard that strips admin from self-registered accounts. The signupHandler is supposed to create unprivileged accounts for new visitors. It contains no explicit user.Perm.Admin = false reset after applying defaults. If an administrator (intentionally or accidentally) configures defaults.perm.admin = true and also enables signup, every account created via the public registration endpoint is an administrator with full control over all files, users, and server settings. This issue has been resolved in version 2.62.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H","score":10.0},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-269","CWE-284"],"references":["https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/commit/a63573b67eb302167b4c4f218361a2d0c138deab","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/releases/tag/v2.62.0","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/security/advisories/GHSA-5gg9-5g7w-hm73"],"products":["filebrowser:filebrowser"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32760","score":0.0068,"percentile":0.52428,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5gg9-5g7w-hm73","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5gg9-5g7w-hm73","summary":"File Browser Signup Grants Admin When Default Permissions Include Admin","modified":"2026-03-30T14:00:05Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","ranges":["<2.62.0"],"fixed":["2.62.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4710","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4710","summary":"File Browser Signup Grants Admin When Default Permissions Include Admin in github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","modified":"2026-03-26T21:03:29.388180Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","ranges":["<2.62.0"],"fixed":["2.62.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
