{"cve":"CVE-2026-32282","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-08T02:16:03.467","modified":"2026-07-25T10:10:00.167","status":"Analyzed","description":"On Linux, if the target of Root.Chmod is replaced with a symlink while the chmod operation is in progress, Chmod can operate on the target of the symlink, even when the target lies outside the root. The Linux fchmodat syscall silently ignores the AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW flag, which Root.Chmod uses to avoid symlink traversal. Root.Chmod checks its target before acting and returns an error if the target is a symlink lying outside the root, so the impact is limited to cases where the target is replaced with a symlink between the check and operation.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":6.4},"cwes":["CWE-59"],"references":["https://go.dev/cl/763761","https://go.dev/issue/78293","https://groups.google.com/g/golang-announce/c/0uYbvbPZRWU","https://pkg.go.dev/vuln/GO-2026-4864"],"products":["golang:go"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:59.047572785+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32282","score":0.00292,"percentile":0.21772,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GO-2026-4864","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4864","summary":"TOCTOU permits root escape on Linux via Root.Chmod in os in internal/syscall/unix","modified":"2026-09-29T10:56:43.071592964Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"stdlib","purl":"pkg:golang/stdlib","ranges":["<1.25.9",">=1.26.0-0 <1.26.2"],"fixed":["1.25.9","1.26.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
