Prior to 3.1.5, authenticated users with permission to execute scaffolder dry-runs can gain access to server-configured environment secrets through the dry-run API response. Secrets are properly redacted in log output but not in all parts of the response payload. Deployments that have configured scaffolder.defaultEnvironment.secrets are affected. This is patched in @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend version 3.1.5.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/3b62dd2d6bf7623ebd23e4b5a6dceb209f98dfce","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-8wq8-6859-qx77"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage\\/plugin-scaffolder-backend"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32237","score":0.00257,"percentile":0.1742,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8wq8-6859-qx77","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8wq8-6859-qx77","summary":"@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend: Possible exposure of defaultEnvironment secrets using dry-run endpoint","modified":"2026-03-14T01:56:22.133571Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","ranges":[">=3.1.0 <3.1.5"],"fixed":["3.1.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
