Prior to 0.4.3, the REST API createUser endpoint uses string-based rank checks that only block creating owner accounts, while the Dashboard API uses indexOf-based rank comparison that prevents creating users at or above your own rank. This inconsistency allows an admin to create additional admin accounts via the REST API, enabling privilege proliferation and persistence. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.4.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-269"],"references":["https://github.com/withstudiocms/studiocms/security/advisories/GHSA-wj56-g96r-673q"],"products":["studiocms:studiocms"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-32106","score":0.00319,"percentile":0.24861,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-wj56-g96r-673q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-wj56-g96r-673q","summary":"StudioCMS: REST API Missing Rank Check Allows Admin to Create Peer Admin Accounts","modified":"2026-03-14T03:11:22.483861Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"studiocms","purl":"pkg:npm/studiocms","ranges":["<0.4.3"],"fixed":["0.4.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
