{"cve":"CVE-2026-31901","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-11T20:16:16.120","modified":"2026-06-17T10:34:43.603","status":"Analyzed","description":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 8.6.34 and 9.6.0-alpha.8, the email verification endpoint (/verificationEmailRequest) returns distinct error responses depending on whether an email address belongs to an existing user, is already verified, or does not exist. An attacker can send requests with different email addresses and observe the error codes to determine which email addresses are registered in the application. This is a user enumeration vulnerability that affects any Parse Server deployment with email verification enabled (verifyUserEmails: true). This vulnerability is fixed in 8.6.34 and 9.6.0-alpha.8.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-204"],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.34","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.6.0-alpha.8","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-w54v-hf9p-8856"],"products":["parseplatform:parse-server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31901","score":0.00251,"percentile":0.16563,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w54v-hf9p-8856","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w54v-hf9p-8856","summary":"Parse Server vulnerable to user enumeration via email verification endpoint","modified":"2026-03-13T13:11:05.860158Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":[">=9.0.0-alpha.1 <9.6.0-alpha.8"],"fixed":["9.6.0-alpha.8"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":["<8.6.34"],"fixed":["8.6.34"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
