{"cve":"CVE-2026-31856","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-11T18:16:24.170","modified":"2026-06-17T10:34:38.473","status":"Analyzed","description":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. A SQL injection vulnerability exists in the PostgreSQL storage adapter when processing Increment operations on nested object fields using dot notation (e.g., stats.counter). The amount value is interpolated directly into the SQL query without parameterization or type validation. An attacker who can send write requests to the Parse Server REST API can inject arbitrary SQL subqueries to read any data from the database, bypassing CLPs and ACLs. MongoDB deployments are not affected. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.6.0-alpha.3 and 8.6.29.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-89"],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.29","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.6.0-alpha.3","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-q3vj-96h2-gwvg"],"products":["parseplatform:parse-server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31856","score":0.00438,"percentile":0.38107,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q3vj-96h2-gwvg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q3vj-96h2-gwvg","summary":"Parse Server vulnerable to SQL injection via `Increment` operation on nested object field in PostgreSQL","modified":"2026-03-13T13:11:00.470751Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":[">=9.0.0-alpha.1 <9.6.0-alpha.3"],"fixed":["9.6.0-alpha.3"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":["<8.6.29"],"fixed":["8.6.29"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
