In versions from 3.5.1 and prior, a mass assignment vulnerability in Checkmate's user profile update endpoint allows any authenticated user to escalate their privileges to superadmin, bypassing all role-based access controls. An attacker can modify their user role to gain complete administrative access to the application, including the ability to view all users, modify critical configurations, and access sensitive system data. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":8.1},"cwes":["CWE-269","CWE-285"],"references":["https://github.com/bluewave-labs/Checkmate/security/advisories/GHSA-6368-x7wr-wpm2"],"products":["bluewavelabs:checkmate"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31836","score":0.003,"percentile":0.22788,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
