Prior to 0.2.3, Sigstore::Verifier#verify does not propagate the VerificationFailure returned by verify_in_toto when the artifact digest does not match the digest in the in-toto attestation subject. As a result, verification of DSSE bundles containing in-toto statements returns VerificationSuccess regardless of whether the artifact matches the attested subject. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.2.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-252"],"references":["https://github.com/sigstore/sigstore-ruby/security/advisories/GHSA-mhg6-2q2v-9h2c"],"products":["sigstore:sigstore"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31830","score":0.00252,"percentile":0.16752,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mhg6-2q2v-9h2c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mhg6-2q2v-9h2c","summary":"sigstore-ruby verifier returns success for DSSE bundles with mismatched in-toto subject digest","modified":"2026-03-19T21:17:24.743250Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"sigstore","purl":"pkg:gem/sigstore","ranges":["<0.2.3"],"fixed":["0.2.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
