{"cve":"CVE-2026-31238","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-12T18:16:52.210","modified":"2026-06-17T10:33:29.700","status":"Deferred","description":"The Ludwig framework thru 0.10.4 is vulnerable to insecure deserialization (CWE-502) in its model serving component. When starting a model server with the ludwig serve command, the framework loads model weight files using torch.load() without enabling the security-restrictive weights_only=True parameter. This default behavior allows the deserialization of arbitrary Python objects via the pickle module. An attacker can exploit this by providing a maliciously crafted PyTorch model file, leading to arbitrary code execution on the system hosting the Ludwig model server.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/ludwig-ai/ludwig","https://www.notion.so/CVE-2026-31238-35d1e1393188819ea77ee98ca85a2878"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:35:16.954578616+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31238","score":0.00497,"percentile":0.42627,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xp5q-5q7g-q26r","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xp5q-5q7g-q26r","summary":"Ludwig framework is vulnerable to insecure deserialization in its model serving component","modified":"2026-06-29T12:26:04.134976492Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ludwig","purl":"pkg:pypi/ludwig","ranges":["<=0.10.4"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-405","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-405","summary":"Ludwig framework is vulnerable to insecure deserialization in its model serving component","modified":"2026-07-01T20:22:56.823984Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ludwig","purl":"pkg:pypi/ludwig","ranges":["<=0.10.4"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
