{"cve":"CVE-2026-31222","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-12T16:16:14.120","modified":"2026-10-19T22:10:00.130","status":"Modified","description":"The snorkel library thru v0.10.0 contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability (CWE-502) in the Trainer.load() method of the Trainer class. The method loads model checkpoint files using torch.load() without enabling the security-restrictive weights_only=True parameter. This default behavior allows the deserialization of arbitrary Python objects via the Pickle module. A remote attacker can exploit this by providing a maliciously crafted model file, leading to arbitrary code execution on the victim's system when the file is loaded via the vulnerable method.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/snorkel-team/snorkel","https://www.notion.so/CVE-2026-31222-35d1e139318881db8398e0732af8df6d"],"products":["snorkel:snorkel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:43:09.190223697+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-31222","score":0.00392,"percentile":0.33091,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-78cp-f66x-qmh5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-78cp-f66x-qmh5","summary":"Snorkel Trainer.load uses an unsafe torch.load","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:08.592891117Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"snorkel","purl":"pkg:pypi/snorkel","ranges":["<=0.10.0"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3068","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3068","summary":"Snorkel Trainer.load uses an unsafe torch.load","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:49.516699017Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"snorkel","purl":"pkg:pypi/snorkel","ranges":["<=0.10.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
