{"cve":"CVE-2026-30942","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-10T18:18:54.093","modified":"2026-06-17T10:33:11.680","status":"Analyzed","description":"Flare is a Next.js-based, self-hostable file sharing platform that integrates with screenshot tools. Prior to 1.7.3, an authenticated path traversal vulnerability in /api/avatars/[filename] allows any logged-in user to read arbitrary files from within the application container. The filename URL parameter is passed to path.join() without sanitization, and getFileStream() performs no path validation, enabling %2F-encoded ../ sequences to escape the uploads/avatars/ directory and read any file accessible to the nextjs process under /app/. Authentication is enforced by Next.js middleware. However, on instances with open registration enabled (the default), any attacker can self-register and immediately exploit this. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.3.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/FlintSH/Flare/commit/cd894cc480619aef958be5de72b1445222fd8d36","https://github.com/FlintSH/Flare/releases/tag/v1.7.3","https://github.com/FlintSH/Flare/security/advisories/GHSA-h639-p7m9-mpgp"],"products":["flintsh:flare"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-30942","score":0.00633,"percentile":0.50344,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
