{"cve":"CVE-2026-29794","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T15:16:16.393","modified":"2026-06-17T10:29:54.000","status":"Analyzed","description":"Vikunja is an open-source self-hosted task management platform. Starting in version 0.8 and prior to version 2.2.0, unauthenticated users are able to bypass the application's built-in rate-limits by spoofing the `X-Forwarded-For` or `X-Real-IP` headers due to the rate-limit relying on the value of `(echo.Context).RealIP`. Unauthenticated users can abuse endpoints available to them for different potential impacts. The immediate concern would be brute-forcing usernames or specific accounts' passwords. This bypass allows unlimited requests against unauthenticated endpoints. Version 2.2.0 patches the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-807"],"references":["https://github.com/go-vikunja/vikunja/security/advisories/GHSA-m547-hp4w-j6jx","https://vikunja.io/changelog/vikunja-v2.2.0-was-released"],"products":["vikunja:vikunja"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-29794","score":0.00341,"percentile":0.27657,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m547-hp4w-j6jx","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m547-hp4w-j6jx","summary":"Vikunja has a Rate-Limit Bypass for Unauthenticated Users via Spoofed Headers","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:00.596581385Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"code.vikunja.io/api","purl":"pkg:golang/code.vikunja.io/api","ranges":[">=0.8 <2.2.0"],"fixed":["2.2.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4791","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4791","summary":"Vikunja has a Rate-Limit Bypass for Unauthenticated Users via Spoofed Headers in code.vikunja.io/api","modified":"2026-03-23T18:45:23.094536Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"code.vikunja.io/api","purl":"pkg:golang/code.vikunja.io/api","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
