Prior to version 0.19.16, the GET /api/v4/image/{filename} endpoint is vulnerable to unauthenticated SSRF through parameter injection in the file_type query parameter. An attacker can inject arbitrary query parameters into the internal request to pict-rs, including the proxy parameter which causes pict-rs to fetch arbitrary URLs. This issue has been patched in version 0.19.16.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":7.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/commit/f47a03f56d1797bceab5f34b6f624c91cecd5871","https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/security/advisories/GHSA-jvxv-2jjp-jxc3","https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/security/advisories/GHSA-jvxv-2jjp-jxc3"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-29178","score":0.00264,"percentile":0.18393,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jvxv-2jjp-jxc3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jvxv-2jjp-jxc3","summary":"Lemmy has unauthenticated SSRF via file_type query parameter injection in image endpoint","modified":"2026-03-06T23:01:53.550131Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"lemmy_routes","purl":"pkg:cargo/lemmy_routes","ranges":["<0.19.16"],"fixed":["0.19.16"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
