Prior to 2.7.0, the ISO‑2022‑JP encoder in Lexbor fails to reset the temporary size variable between iterations. The statement ctx->buffer_used -= size with a stale size = 3 causes an integer underflow that wraps to SIZE_MAX. Afterwards, memcpy is called with a negative length, leading to an out‑of‑bounds read from the stack and an out‑of‑bounds write to the heap. The source data is partially controllable via the contents of the DOM tree. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.7.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-191","CWE-787"],"references":["https://github.com/lexbor/lexbor/security/advisories/GHSA-mrwr-xh7f-96v3"],"products":["lexbor:lexbor"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-29078","score":0.00279,"percentile":0.20445,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
