From version 2.1.0 to before version 2.8.1, from version 3.0.0 to before version 3.3.3, and before version 4.0.1, SVGO accepts XML with custom entities, without guards against entity expansion or recursion. This can result in a small XML file (811 bytes) stalling the application and even crashing the Node.js process with JavaScript heap out of memory. This issue has been patched in versions 2.8.1, 3.3.3, and 4.0.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-776"],"references":["https://github.com/svg/svgo/security/advisories/GHSA-xpqw-6gx7-v673","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:11856","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:11916","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:13512","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:13545"],"products":["svgo:svgo"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-29074","score":0.00637,"percentile":0.50537,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xpqw-6gx7-v673","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xpqw-6gx7-v673","summary":"SVGO DoS through entity expansion in DOCTYPE (Billion Laughs)","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:41.875487187Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"svgo","purl":"pkg:npm/svgo","ranges":[">=2.1.0 <2.8.1"],"fixed":["2.8.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"svgo","purl":"pkg:npm/svgo","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <3.3.3"],"fixed":["3.3.3"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"svgo","purl":"pkg:npm/svgo","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <4.0.1"],"fixed":["4.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
