Prior to version 1.13.6, a prototype pollution vulnerability exists in the RPC JSON deserializer of the @orpc/client package. The vulnerability allows unauthenticated, remote attackers to inject arbitrary properties into the global Object.prototype. Because this pollution persists for the lifetime of the Node.js process and affects all objects, it can lead to severe security breaches, including authentication bypass, denial of service, and potentially Remote Code Execution. This issue has been patched in version 1.13.6.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-1321"],"references":["https://github.com/middleapi/orpc/commit/1dba06fc6f938c2486de303c2fa096bc1c8418b5","https://github.com/middleapi/orpc/security/advisories/GHSA-m272-9rp6-32mc"],"products":["orpc:orpc"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-28794","score":0.00944,"percentile":0.6107,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m272-9rp6-32mc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m272-9rp6-32mc","summary":"`@orpc/client` has Prototype Pollution via `StandardRPCJsonSerializer` Deserialization","modified":"2026-03-06T15:32:38.042375Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@orpc/client","purl":"pkg:npm/%40orpc/client","ranges":["<1.13.6"],"fixed":["1.13.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
