Prior to 2.1.8, the TinaCMS CLI development server exposes media endpoints that are vulnerable to path traversal, allowing attackers to read and write arbitrary files on the filesystem outside the intended media directory. When running tinacms dev, the CLI starts a local HTTP server (default port 4001) exposing endpoints such as /media/list/*, /media/upload/*, and /media/*. These endpoints process user-controlled path segments using decodeURI() and path.join() without validating that the resolved path remains within the configured media directory. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.8.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.4},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/tinacms/tinacms/security/advisories/GHSA-2f24-mg4x-534q","https://github.com/tinacms/tinacms/security/advisories/GHSA-2f24-mg4x-534q"],"products":["ssw:tinacms\\/cli"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-28793","score":0.00215,"percentile":0.11982,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-2f24-mg4x-534q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-2f24-mg4x-534q","summary":"TinaCMS Vulnerable to Path Traversal Leading to Arbitrary File Read, Write and Delete","modified":"2026-03-14T07:11:20.850766Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@tinacms/cli","purl":"pkg:npm/%40tinacms/cli","ranges":["<2.1.8"],"fixed":["2.1.8"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
