Prior to version 0.4.4, the _has_sneaky_javascript() method strips backslashes before checking for dangerous CSS keywords. This causes CSS Unicode escape sequences to bypass the @import and expression() filters, allowing external CSS loading or XSS in older browsers. This issue has been patched in version 0.4.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-116"],"references":["https://github.com/fedora-python/lxml_html_clean/commit/2ef732667ddbc74ea59847bcf24b75809aaeed3b","https://github.com/fedora-python/lxml_html_clean/security/advisories/GHSA-hw26-mmpg-fqfg","https://github.com/fedora-python/lxml_html_clean/security/advisories/GHSA-hw26-mmpg-fqfg"],"products":["fedoralovespython:lxml_html_clean"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-28348","score":0.00282,"percentile":0.2071,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hw26-mmpg-fqfg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hw26-mmpg-fqfg","summary":"lxml-html-clean has CSS @import Filter Bypass via Unicode Escapes","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:39.674211658Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"lxml-html-clean","purl":"pkg:pypi/lxml-html-clean","ranges":["<0.4.4"],"fixed":["0.4.4"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2201","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2201","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-13T07:15:27.789764306Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"lxml-html-clean","purl":"pkg:pypi/lxml-html-clean","ranges":["<0.4.4"],"fixed":["0.4.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
