{"cve":"CVE-2026-27897","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-11T16:16:40.133","modified":"2026-06-17T10:27:50.510","status":"Analyzed","description":"Vociferous provides cross-platform, offline speech-to-text with local AI refinement. Prior to 4.4.2, the vulnerability exists in src/api/system.py within the export_file route. The application accepts a JSON payload containing a filename and content. While the developer intended for a native UI dialog to handle the file path, the API does not validate the filename string before it is processed by the backends filesystem logic. Because the API is unauthenticated and the CORS configuration in app.py is overly permissive (allow_origins=[\"*\"] or allowing localhost), an external attacker can bypass the UI entirely. By using directory traversal sequences (../), an attacker can force the app to write arbitrary data to any location accessible by the current user's permissions. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.4.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-306"],"references":["https://github.com/WanderingAstronomer/Vociferous/security/advisories/GHSA-7cpr-frgj-h85v"],"products":["wanderingastronomer:vociferous"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-27897","score":0.00684,"percentile":0.52575,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
