{"cve":"CVE-2026-27888","nvd":{"published":"2026-02-26T01:16:25.470","modified":"2026-06-17T10:27:49.520","status":"Analyzed","description":"pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.7.3, an attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to the RAM being exhausted. This requires accessing the `xfa` property of a reader or writer and the corresponding stream being compressed using `/FlateDecode`. This has been fixed in pypdf 6.7.3. As a workaround, apply the patch manually.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U","score":6.6},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/commit/7a4c8246ed48d9d328fb596942271da47b6d109c","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/3658","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/releases/tag/6.7.3","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-x7hp-r3qg-r3cj"],"products":["pypdf_project:pypdf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:24:17.937441719+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-27888","score":0.00399,"percentile":0.34145,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x7hp-r3qg-r3cj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x7hp-r3qg-r3cj","summary":"pypdf: Manipulated FlateDecode XFA streams can exhaust RAM","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:05.154122042Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pypdf","purl":"pkg:pypi/pypdf","ranges":["<6.7.3"],"fixed":["6.7.3"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3027","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3027","summary":"pypdf: Manipulated FlateDecode XFA streams can exhaust RAM","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:10.036726250Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pypdf","purl":"pkg:pypi/pypdf","ranges":["<6.7.3"],"fixed":["6.7.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
