{"cve":"CVE-2026-27001","nvd":{"published":"2026-02-20T00:16:16.653","modified":"2026-06-17T10:26:30.990","status":"Analyzed","description":"OpenClaw is a personal AI assistant. Prior to version 2026.2.15, OpenClaw embedded the current working directory (workspace path) into the agent system prompt without sanitization. If an attacker can cause OpenClaw to run inside a directory whose name contains control/format characters (for example newlines or Unicode bidi/zero-width markers), those characters could break the prompt structure and inject attacker-controlled instructions. Starting in version 2026.2.15, the workspace path is sanitized before it is embedded into any LLM prompt output, stripping Unicode control/format characters and explicit line/paragraph separators. Workspace path resolution also applies the same sanitization as defense-in-depth.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.6},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-77"],"references":["https://github.com/openclaw/openclaw/commit/6254e96acf16e70ceccc8f9b2abecee44d606f79","https://github.com/openclaw/openclaw/releases/tag/v2026.2.15","https://github.com/openclaw/openclaw/security/advisories/GHSA-2qj5-gwg2-xwc4"],"products":["openclaw:openclaw"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:23:35.260773158+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-27001","score":0.00227,"percentile":0.1342,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-2qj5-gwg2-xwc4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-2qj5-gwg2-xwc4","summary":"OpenClaw: Unsanitized CWD path injection into LLM prompts","modified":"2026-02-20T16:54:10.404629Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"openclaw","purl":"pkg:npm/openclaw","ranges":["<2026.2.15"],"fixed":["2026.2.15"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
