{"cve":"CVE-2026-26311","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-10T20:16:36.183","modified":"2026-06-17T10:26:04.180","status":"Analyzed","description":"Envoy is a high-performance edge/middle/service proxy. Prior to 1.37.1, 1.36.5, 1.35.8, and 1.34.13, a logic vulnerability in Envoy's HTTP connection manager (FilterManager) that allows for Zombie Stream Filter Execution. This issue creates a \"Use-After-Free\" (UAF) or state-corruption window where filter callbacks are invoked on an HTTP stream that has already been logically reset and cleaned up. The vulnerability resides in source/common/http/filter_manager.cc within the FilterManager::decodeData method. The ActiveStream object remains valid in memory during the deferred deletion window. If a DATA frame arrives on this stream immediately after the reset (e.g., in the same packet processing cycle), the HTTP/2 codec invokes ActiveStream::decodeData, which cascades to FilterManager::decodeData. FilterManager::decodeData fails to check the saw_downstream_reset_ flag. It iterates over the decoder_filters_ list and invokes decodeData() on filters that have already received onDestroy(). This vulnerability is fixed in 1.37.1, 1.36.5, 1.35.8, and 1.34.13.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://github.com/envoyproxy/envoy/security/advisories/GHSA-84xm-r438-86px"],"products":["envoyproxy:envoy"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-26311","score":0.00358,"percentile":0.29562,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-84xm-r438-86px","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-84xm-r438-86px","summary":"Envoy: HTTP - filter chain execution on reset streams causing UAF crash","modified":"2026-03-13T20:26:23.313649Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","ranges":["1.37.0"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","ranges":[">=1.36.0 <=1.36.4"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","ranges":[">=1.35.0 <=1.35.8"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/envoyproxy/envoy","ranges":["<=1.34.12"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
