Prior to version 1.14.4-2, an attacker who can control an `h5` file parsed by HDF5 can trigger a write-based heap buffer overflow condition. This can lead to a denial-of-service condition, and potentially further issues such as remote code execution depending on the practical exploitability of the heap overflow against modern operating systems. Real-world exploitability of this issue in terms of remote-code execution is currently unknown. Version 1.14.4-2 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-122","CWE-787","CWE-131"],"references":["https://github.com/HDFGroup/hdf5/security/advisories/GHSA-5p2m-j456-9mr2","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-26200","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2441088","https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-26200.json"],"products":["hdfgroup:hdf5"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:23:35.260773158+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-26200","score":0.00419,"percentile":0.362,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
